Social networking now costing U.K billions

Social media is becoming a part of our lives, but did any thought about the loss of productivity ? In view of getting an impact of social media, a British Job site MyJobGroup.co.uk had a poll on social media, this includes media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace.

The poll shows that many small businesses and British companies are at potential loss in productivity, out of 1,000 British workers polled, 6 percent admitted to spending an hour or more of the work day visiting social media sites.
Our results clearly show that UK workers are spending increased time whilst at work on social media networks, which, left unchecked, could have negative repercussions on the productivity of many companies across the country

said Managing Director of Myjobgroup.co.uk Lee Fayer.

What about the Net Impact? as an estimate Britain could lose up to 14 billion pounds, or equivalent to $22.26 US dollars loss.

Using services such as accessing friend feeds, tweets, posting photos and videos, and uploading comments and pictures to social media sites contributes to productivity loss.

Overdoing such things may also lead to severe loss, there should be a social responsibility towards the organization to which they represent.

Before any strict regulation imposed by organization, people should understand this fact and give the priority to their tasks.

Do write your opinion on what do you think about the social responsibility.
